Jamie Foxx wont sport diamond earrings anymore
January 21st, 2009 - 2:30 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Jan 21 (ANI): American actor Jamie Foxx has given up his trademark diamond earrings to protest against the use of conflict gems in jewellery.
The Oscar-winner, famous for wearing big stones in each of his ears, has ditched them after learning about the history of jewels mined in warzones and sold to fund conflicts or profit warlords.
“I now wear cubic zirconia. I used to wear real diamonds, but there’’s too much issue about blood diamonds,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, the actor imitated the US President at the We Are Once kick-off concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday.
He reportedly shelled between 15,000 and 20,000 dollars to rent a Washington house for six days to base himself in the State from January 16-21 for Obama’’s inauguration ceremony. (ANI)
