Nashville, Nov.12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American country singer Jamey Johnson was declared the winner of the ‘Song Of The Year‘ category for the single “In Color” at the Country Music Association Awards 2009 which was held on Wednesday evening.

The singer received the honor along with James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller in a star studded award ceremony. The much acclaimed country artist was among the first artists to receive the award in the gala event that was held at the Sommet Center in Nashville.

After receiving the award, the singer added that he had never expected to receive such a recognition at this platform. Moreover, the audiences burst into laughter when the country bad boy added that he had not imagined that the people would have allowed him to encounter things like these. However, Johnson ensured that the audiences have a good time as her performed with rock singer Kid Rock. The musical duo performed immensely well and made sure that the crowds were kept highly entertained. This performance was by far the first televised duet of the singers. Although, the singer received nominations in three other categories, they manged to grab the only one award.

The song for which Johnson received the award was co-written with two other country music artists James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller. The single “In Color” was part of Johnson’s second album ‘That Lonesome Song’ which was released last year in the month of August. Since then the song has gained immense popularity and on January this year, the single featured in the list of Top Ten country hit.
