titanic-nautical-1024 Los Angeles, Mar 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Academy Award winner James Cameron had earlier joked about a 3D version of Titanic, after the fabulous success of the 3D version of his movie Avatar. Now it seems that he was not joking at all, as he does indeed have plans to launch a 3D version of his blockbuster movie Titanic, that starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Earlier he had directed and released his epic movie Titanic in 1997, and after that, its stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio became household names. Now he has plans to release the 3D version in 2012, as that year will also mark the 100 years, since the legendary ship sank. He said to USA Today, “We’re targeting spring of 2012 for the release (of a 3D version of ‘Titanic’), which is the 100 year anniversary of the sailing of the ship.”

Meanwhile the biggest grossing movie of all times - Avatar might have a re-release in the summers. Speculations are rife that the movie might have minted some more dough, if it hadn’t have to vacant the digital and the IMAX screens in March, for the 3D version of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. So the producers are planning another release in the summers, to make up for the losses, and notch some more box-office records in the process.
