James Cameron pockets $350 million for directing Avatar

New York, July 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Titanic director – James Cameron has got $350 million for directing Avatar. According to reports, Avatar has managed to be the highest grossing movie of all times, so it was fair that the director of the movie get his rightful due too.
There are reports, which say that Avatar managed to earn around $2.7 billion worldwide. James Cameron had signed a deal with the production company that he would be given his fees for directing the movie, only if Avatar did brisk business and was successful. It was not only successful, but on the contrary it was super-successful and managed to create a record for being the biggest grossing movie of all times.
Avatar was nominated in various categories for the Academy Awards as well, and it managed to notch up some success there too. James Cameron was nominated for the Best Director, but eventually he lost to his ex-wife, who eventually picked up the award for the Best Director.
The movie was released in DVD format and in the Blu-ray format as well and there also it was a commercial success to boot. There are also reports that there is going to be a special edition of the movie, which would be released around the festive season in December 2010.
