London, April 23 (ANI): James Cameron’s focus on environmental issues saw him arguing with film bosses to retain Avatar’s “tree hugging” elements which were dubbed “c**p” by the studio.

The sci-fi blockbuster is the story of an alien planet, which is threatened by a human mining project.

However, a Hollywood studio was reluctant to go with Cameron’s idea of an eco-friendly storyline before the Titanic director won movie bosses over.

“I certainly feel a personal sense of responsibility (over environmental issues) because I made a movie on these issues. Why? Because they were personally important to me. It’s not like the studio said, ‘Jim we want you to make a movie about the environment.’ No. They said, ‘We really like the big epic science fiction story, but is there any way we can get this tree-hugging c**p out of it?’” the Daily Express quoted Cameron, as telling the New York Daily News.
