Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dubbed as the ‘most famous car in the world” the Aston Martin DB5, which was driven by Sir Sean Connery before he was a “Sir”, back when he was just a super-spy, in the movies ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Thunderball’ has sold at auction for a bit less than what it was expected to bring in.
A person who spoke for the auctioneer stated, “It’s still a lot of money and I don’t think anyone’s disappointed.”
An American collector, Jerry Lee of American Broadcasting purchased the vehicle, a 1964 Aston Martin DB5, with many added gadgets, for $12,000 back in 1969, and it has mostly been located in the United States ever since. He plans to give the money which he got for the car to his charitable foundation.
The Jerry Lee Foundation was set up ten years ago by Lee to both support education, and fight crime internationally. The car was sold at the Battersea Evolution in London by both RM Auctions and Sotheby’s, to an American collector, an Ohio real esate guru Harry Yeaggy. It took less than ten minutes to sell.
