James Bond’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 up for grabs
June 2nd, 2010 - 1:05 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Jun 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The famous 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is up for grabs. The car is going to be auctioned in London, on the 27th of October. The organizers of the auction are expecting that the car would get a bid of at least $5 million. The auctioneers RM Auctions have nicknamed it as the ‘world’s most famous car’. It is also a very unique car, as only two units were made and this is the first time that they are going to be available to the public.
Sean Connery used this car in the James Bond movies ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Thunderball’. The Aston Martin DB5 is equipped with a range of gadgets like machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen. And the most surprising thing is that most of the gadgets are in working condition and are fully operational also. However the bidders can rest easy, as the machine guns fitted on the car are totally fake and are not operational at all.
Till now the car used to belong to radio broadcaster Jerry Lee. He had bought the car in 1969 from the Aston Martin Lagonda factory itself, and he had bought it for just $12,000. However he is hoping to get a nice return on the investment, to the tune of at least $5 million.
