Jalota sings Sufi-club song for ‘Tere Mere Phere’
September 18th, 2011 - 6:52 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Sep 18 (IANS) Ghazal and bhajan singer Anup Jalota has tried something different for “Tere Mere Phere” - for the first time he has crooned a sufi-club song for his debut production venture.
“I sing ghazal, bhajan on regular basis. Every month there is a album coming out. For the song, Deepaji (actor-turned-director Deepa Sahi) explained me the situation and the kind of tune she wanted. I loved the song and that’s why I sang it,” Jalota told IANS.
“I don’t do playback singing because I am very, very busy with my live concerts across the globe. But this is my film, so I wanted to beautify,” said Jalota who has co-produced the film with Ketan Mehta.
“Tere Mere Phere”, which is Deepa Sahi’s directorial debut, is a light-hearted look at marriage trivia, which has Vinay Pathak and Riya Sen in pivotal roles along with debutants Jagrat Desai and Sasha Goradia.
Jalota has also done a cameo in “Tere Mere Phere”, which is hitting theatres Sep 30.
“In the film, you will see me in a small scene, where I have acted as Sasha’s father,” said the 58-year-old.
