Jade Goodys hubby assaults taxi driver
March 3rd, 2009 - 2:50 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar 3 (ANI): Cancer-stricken Jade Goodys husband Jack Tweed attacked a taxi driver at 50mph after losing his temper over the fare, a court has heard.
Magistrates in Epping were told that 21-year-old Tweed, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, grabbed the driver round the neck and threatened to stab him after refusing to pay the 50 pound cab fare upfront, reports the Daily Star.
Stephen Wilkins, the taxi driver, told magistrates that Tweed, another man and two women had piled into the back of his cab after leaving a club in Epping.
He said that he did a U-turn to drive back to Epping because the group had refused to pay in advance, or to travel legally with three in the back and one in the front of the cab.
Tweed admitted drinking 250-pounds-worth of beer, vodka Red Bulls and shots with pals in the 13-hour booze binge.
However, he has denied charges of assault claiming that he remembers nothing of the night, including being arrested, and believes his drink may have been spiked.
Tweed told the court: My wife is undergoing an operation right now, my mind is all over the place Im not focused on this. (ANI)
