Aug 27 (IBNS) King of Pop Michael Jackson’s waxwork double personally endorsed by the singer before his death is to be unveiled at Hollywood’s new Madame Tussauds on Thursday .

The figure was being made in London to mark the debut of his comeback This Is It concerts in July (09), and features the lifelike pop star wearing clothes identical to the wardrobe he was planning to wear onstage in the U.K.

Madame Tussaud’s bosses were keen to complete work on the waxwork, which was put on ice following Jackson’s death, so the $300,000 (£200,000) figure could be unveiled in Los Angeles in time for what would have been the singer’s 51st birthday on 29 August. The singer was supposed to be buried on Aug 29 but now it has been pushed to first week of September.

The singer died June 25 after a cardiac arrest due to a drug overdose. An affidavit revealed that Jackson was given a powerful cocktail of drugs by Dr. Conrad Murray to help him sleep. When one medicine didn’t work, Murray tried another, finally resorting to a dose of the anesthetic propofol, although Murray allegedly feared Jackson was forming an addiction.
