New York, June 27 (ANI): King of Pop Michael Jackson’s sudden death at a rented Los Angeles home on Thursday has triggered speculation that his 200-song Beatles collection may go to Sir Paul McCartney.
An AOL music website report suggested earlier this year that Jackson had plans to leave McCartney the long-contested rights to 200 songs of the Fab Four’s iconic repertoire, valued at about 500 million dollars.
After Jackson, who died at age 50, had bought the Beatles song catalog in 1985 for 47.5 million dollars, his relationship with McCartney was severely damaged.
According to Spinner, a source close to Jackson recently told a newspaper that the ‘Thriller’ star felt badly about the bidding war that erupted between him and McCartney.
“Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right,” the New York Daily News quoted the insider as having told The Daily Mirror. (ANI)
