London, Dec 5 (IANS) Hollywood actor Johnny Depp’s role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” films was initially meant for Hugh Jackman.
“I initially wrote that character with Jackman in mind. Hence the name, Captain Jack,” express.co.uk quoted screenwriter Stuart Beattie as saying.
In 2003, Jackman’s role as Wolverine in “X-Men” made him popular among the audiences but the Disney executives shot down Beattie’s suggestion that he play roguish hero and the part went to Depp.
