Jack Nicholson nearly bought New York YankeesNovember 14th, 2007 - 10:37 am ICT by admin
“I could have bought into the Yankees for $41 million, and the Lakers for less, with a friend,” the New York Post quoted him as telling Golf Digest.
He said that he had been a die-hard fan of the team since his childhood days in the Fifties.
Emmy-winning television producer Lorne Michaels once suggested Nicholson to celebrate the latter’s 70th birthday with a match at Yankee Stadium.
Nicholson’s shyness, however, compelled him to back off.
“I’ve been a Yankees fan since my days as a bleacher-street kid in the ’50s. Lorne Michaels and I go to Yankee games, and Lorne wanted me to throw out the first ball at Yankee Stadium for my 70th birthday this year. That sounded fun until I started getting nervous and then completely crazy, thinking, ‘Should I try to throw a slider?’ Backed off that one, too. I’ve got my shy side,” he told the magazine. (ANI)
