Aug 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium breathed his last on Friday leaving his friends and family mourn for his death. The host was 72 year old.
Jack Horkheimer was the creator and host of “Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer” and through his show he popularized naked-eye astronomy. The host was the director of the planetarium for 35 years. Jack Horkheimer’s appearance on the show was always marked with his opening lines where he greeted his fellow star gazers and his signature closing lines were “Keep Looking Up”. He also appeared on bumpers and commercials for Cartoon Network. His museum officials released a statement after his death where they maintained that they are “saddened” to have learned that their resident Jack Horkheimer passed away after being ill for quite some time. His show was appreciated by millions of viewers who generated love for the stars. The media reported that his funeral arrangements are pending.
Jack Horkheimer has no immediate survivors. The veteran host was suffering from bronchiectasis, a degenerative drug disease and he moved to Florida in 1960s for his health. A reputed media source reported that Jack Horkheimer had already erected his tombstone where he wrote his own epitaph. The epitaph reads that his life’s “admonition” and he could not do anything else in his present position. Recently Jack Horkheimer reportedly became the subject of a lawsuit that claimed that he sexually abused a runaway 35 years ago. However, the claim had not been responded to and after the death of the host it is unclear if the civil lawsuit will continue.
