For quite sometime now, there had been some floating rumors regarding the three year long marriage of singer Avril Lavigne to the her husband Deryck Whibley coming to an end. The news has now been validated by Lavigne herself, putting to rest the rife wild speculations and guessing games.

According to reports, the “Complicated” singer has supposedly posted a message late on the Thursday (September 17) on her MySpace page, which read something like this, “Deryck and I have been together for six and a half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 21. I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining in friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note.”

With this message, Lavigne has managed to highlight that it is going to be an amicable separation, at least from her point of view. There has been no input from the other party till now though. The Sum 41 frontman Whibley has surprisingly remained tight-lipped about the entire incident.

However, contrary reports had been doing the rounds quite often, of which one by the US Weekly had stated that Lavigne had been the one to have initiated the separation. The US Weekly had also had sources citing that Deryck had reportedly been forced out of the couple’s Bel Air (California) house by his wife. Indications are rife that the divorce papers are to be filed very soon enough.
