IT raids on Telugu film actors
March 23rd, 2011 - 5:03 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, March 23 (IANS) Income Tax officials Wednesday raided houses and offices of leading Telugu film actors in Hyderabad and other cities of Andhra Pradesh.
Houses, offices and other properties of actors Nagarjuna, Ravi Teja, actress Anushka Shetty and producer D. Shiva Prasad Reddy in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills neighbourhoods here were raided simultaneously.
The IT sleuths reportedly seized some documents relating to purchase and sale of properties, sources said.
The raids were conducted following reports that some film personalities purchased prime land in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. There also were banking transactions involving huge amounts of money.
The IT officials also found some discrepancies in the advance tax assessments of the actors.
