Is Kevin Smith is too fat to fly?

Oakland, Feb 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Recently the actor and noted director Kevin Smith had been asked to debark from a Southwest flight, as he was deemed to fat to fly. There was a big hue and cry about this decision, and later Southwest defended its stand in a statement. “If a customer cannot comfortably lower the armrest and infringes on a portion of another seat, a customer seated adjacent would be very uncomfortable and a timely exit from the aircraft in the event of an emergency might be compromised if we allow a cramped, restricted seating arrangement,” Southwest said.
When Kevin was asked to get down from the plane then he didn’t take it lying down, and he got back at the company by tweeting about the incident on the social networking and the micro-blogging site Twitter that, Dear @SouthwestAir - I know I’m fat, but was Captain Leysath (sic) really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?
A Southwest Airlines spokesman at the Oakland International Airport confirmed the incident, and he also said that the airline was in touch with the actor-director Kevin Smith. He also said that the crew is capable enough to determine which fat passenger needs to buy an additional ticket if he wants to travel on the flight.

If he could get the armrests down he was in his seat. As far as “making a timely exit from the plane” what do they do with people who need wheelchairs, or are elderly. How far are airlines willing to go to discriminate. There is a reason they are in such trouble financially, since they have gone out of their way to make flying a miserble experience. Thank god for telecommuting. On the rare occasion that I have to fly, it is never pleasant.

Not just SW that does this United once made me buy an extra seat even thought this was in the middle of a long trip on my way home from over seas and we were just changing planes in LA fir last leg up to San Francisco.. None of my other parts of my trip on all the other planes needed me to buy a second seat. This Is why I or no-one I know will fly with them again.. Guess SW is the next one..
