Is Johnny Depp going to play Michael Jackson in a movie?

New York, Nov 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Johnny Depp has been highly tipped to play Michael Jackson in a planned movie about the life of the late iconic pop singer. Variety magazine reported recently that Jackson’s lawyer, John Branca, is working on getting a movie based on the life of the “Moonwalk” hitmaker.

Forbes reports that British betting company Paddy Power is favoring Depp to play the singer in the movie. The betting company places the odds at 4 to 1 for Depp playing Jackson. There are other stars linked to the role. Paddy ranks actor Zac Efron 9 to 2 to have the role while singer Usher has the probability of 6 to 1.

Variety reports that Branca has already spoken to a couple of Hollywood producers regarding the movie about the singer’s life. Michael Jackson was one of the top entertainment earners when he was at his peak.

Even in death anything attached to the singer is an instant hit. A documentary about the last days of the singer, This is It, grossed $261 million at the box office globally.

Michael Jackson died while preparing for his comeback concert dubbed “This is It.” His doctor Conrad Murray has been blamed for his death. Conrad, found guilty of involuntary manslaughter earlier in the month, is due to be sentenced at the end of the month.
