Sexy Pirate ‘Captain’ Jack Sparrow’s portrayal by Johnny Depp may have made the character and the movie a runaway hit but not with everyone. The role got the higher ups at the Disney set up mighty confused as they assumed that the ‘rascal’ character was either drunk or a stylish portrayal of a gay.

When confronted by the executives after Depp first acted out the character, the actor admitted that his character was somewhere inspired by Mr. Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones Rocker. Johnny had always admired the rocker and copied his roguish style in the movie. Pirates of the Caribbean is remember more so because of the ‘never say die’ attitude of the ‘Captain Sparrow’.

Apparently in an interview to the magazine ‘Vanity Fair’ Depp said that he had received a lot of calls from the senior executives who wanted to know whether the character was some kind of ‘weird simpleton or was he a gay. Depp confessed that the seniors at the Disney just couldn’t tolerate him. Inspite of such a refusal to accept the character Depp was more than convinced that the role would be a hit. He decide not to change the crazy Sparrow which helped the film garner profits.

When Johnny met a woman who was a pro Disney-ite and also had similar ideas, he told her a few words which made her really quite nervous. He told her that all his characters were gay and asked her which one of them was her favourite?
