Nicholas Cage After finding two collections of lost national treasures veteran actor Nicolas Cage is now himself the subject of a treasure hunt with the American Internal Revenue Service (IRS) pursuing him for more than $6.2 million dollars in unpaid taxes.

While Cage has an onscreen reputation of managing to work his way around any obstacles to reach his goal, the IRS has an equally admirable reputation for getting what the government is owed.

Showing just as much determination as the actor did in tracking down the makers of a snuff movie in the 1999 thriller 8mm, the IRS has obtained a tax lien in a Louisiana court against the stars $3.55 million New Orleans mansion - which is now up for sale, as is his $35 million Hollywood home.

Cage is reported to have failed to pay the 2007 federal income taxess on both properties and is trying to quickly find a buyer for both properties, with the Hollywood home being offered at the fire-sale price of just $17.5 million.

Documents filed against Cage in the New Orleans District Court on July 14, allege he failed to pay $6,257,005 in taxes and follow a run-in he had with the IRS in 2008 when he agreed to pay $660,000 plus interest following allegations of improperly deducting personal expenses.
