Bollywood actors Irrfan Khan and Tabu make perfect on-screen couple and that has been proved by the film Maqbool and Mira Nair’s The Namesake. Their onscreen chemistry is amazing and they have done very intimate scenes in the earlier movies. But, Taiwanese American film director Ang Lee is going to reverse their roles totally in his next project ‘Life Of Pi’ in which he is making them mother son!

There were lots of speculations about Irrfan’s role in this film because many people were thinking that Irrfan and Tabu will be paired as couple once again. But all the equations changed when Irrfan made it clear that he would be playing the older ‘Pi’ in the film and Tabu will be playing his mother.

The film will deal with the story of a young boy Pi, who survives a shipwreck and is left with a Royal Bengal tiger as his companion. Irrfan jokingly says that the tiger has replaced Tabu as his companion in this film. The film is based on the Booker Prize-winning novel.

The younger Pi will be played by a 16 year old Delhi based boy named Suraj Sharma. He is a newcomer and will share screenspace with talented actress like Tabu. However, Irrfan will not have any scene with Tabu so there will be no hesitation among the actors.

Irrfan, who has already made a niche in Hollywood after acting in the films like Slumdog Millionaire, New York, I Love You, A Mighty Heart etc, is very proud of his co-star Tabu. He says that the international audience was taken by surprise after seeing her performance in their movie ‘The Namesake’. He wants Tabu to make a great entry into Hollywood with her performance in this film.

Well, we don’t mind if they play mother son till they keep giving their best of performances!
