Irfan Khan replaced Sanjay Dutt’s character in ‘Alibag’ for Sanjay Gupta’s film.

Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt were also business partners in `White Feather` films and did several films like `Kaante`, `Zinda`, `Plan` and `Musafir`. Sanjay Dutt who was a partner of White Feather Films Pvt Ltd, has been ceased to be director of the company.

It is also believed that after separating from White Feather, Sanjay Dutt is keen on reviving his father Sunil Dutt’s old film banner Ajanta Arts. Gupta reacts, “I know that he is planning to revive it and all of us want him to do that.”

Sanjay Gupta said “Sanju did not inform me as to why he pulled out of the film and I did not ask”.

“Had it been any other film, I would have shelved it. But Alibag is a part of my life,” he told reporters on the sets of the film.

The director had said `Alibag` was a semi-autobiographical film which focusses on the “critical phase” of his life.

“It is inspired by a trip I took to Alibag with my niece and her friends. I experienced peace and happiness. I had reached a kind of plateau with dark films like `Zinda`. It reflected my state of mind”.

“Alibag is a much lighter film with which I will reinvent myself and make the audience smile,” he had said.
