July 19, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Steve Jobs and Apple are in for trouble once again. While the antenna problems of iPhone 4 and speculations of a possible replacement have created bad press for the company, Whoopi Goldberg has now added to its woes too.

She had, apparently, upgraded to the new and sleek model which eventually turned out to be dud. The brand new iPhone seemed to have more problems than just an antenna malfunction. Her calls kept being dropped and she was not able to take important calls either. So how did the popular comedian handle it? She simply smashed it against her car and went back to her faithful 3G once again.

She had lamented that it simply threw away the e-mails and was truly ‘bad’. However, matters came to a head when the culprit, iPhone, dropped a call while she was in the midst of interviewing Stephen A. Smith. The enraged comedian and successful TV show host just smashed it. “I have murdered my new iPhone”. She said on her show. “It behaved like a 1972 Datsun”, she is said to have commented.

The main problem was that people could not get connected to her, she explained. She also said that her callers thought that her phone was ringing while she could not hear anything at her end. Again, it simply stopped functioning while she was in the middle of an important conversation.

While Whoopi did have issues with the latest technological gizmo, she seems to have retained her faith in the brand itself. She has now gone back to her older 3G which is again a product of Apple instead of turning to Blackberry or Android.
