There is no doubt that the world will always remember their beloved pop star Michael Jackson, as everyone tries to commemorate him in their own loving ways. The Iowa state fair is one of them it seems as they wanted to pay tribute to the King of Pop by making a butter sculpture of him this year. This proposal was made on June 30 but has come under a lot of debate and criticism. This debate over the way that pop star will be honored, has led the fair organizers go for a public opinion through voting.
This will decide whether Jackson butter sculpture will at all be part of this year’s fair display.
The decision to Include MJ’s sculpture this year came days after his death when the organizers announced that MJ’s butter sculpture will be placed along with fair’s regular attraction which is the annual butter cow. In recognition of MJ’s famous dance step called the “moonwalk”, it was also decided that the sculpture will appear alongside a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the famous astronaut Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon.
Since there was public discontent over the issue, the organizers decided to minimize MJ’s sculpture to a presentation of a “small side portion” of the moonwalk sculpture besides declaring that the popstar’s sculpture is solely for “recognizing his piece of Iowa State Fair History” without having any indication to his character. Since the case was still debatable, the fair organizers resorted to polling.
The Iowa state fair is an age old fair in America and earlier famous personalities like Harry Potter, Tiger Woods and Elvis Presley have been sculpted with butter in the fair.

I think it is totally out of control wanting to make a sculpture of Michael Jackson out of butter. Isn’t there someone a little bit more important to commemorate then him? How about something invovling all the fallen soilders that died fighting for our freedom. The freedom that gave us the right to have a state fair. I think it’s a slap in the face (buttered or not) and extreamly disrespectful. I hope it doesn’t get approved.
