caps3Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world is celebrating International Caps Lock Day. However, the motive behind celebrating such a day has been a big mystery for the last six years, since this weird day came into existence in 2004. May be the day is celebrated to pay a tribute to the most useless and most neglected and rarely used key in your otherwise useful keyboard.

Caps lock is hardly used these days, especially when the colloquial trend of writing in capital letters in your e-mail is almost becoming a past tense. In case you at all have to use the capital letters, sane people generally press the “shift” key. So why not remember these martyr key, who sacrificed its existence and dignity for the more potential key, lying just below it. The International Caps lock Day strives to insist the people that “Caps lock” is not as useless as people think it to be. In OSX, it can be remapped in System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Modifier Keys. it can act as an extra Command, Control, Option, or select No Action. Yet, if that is not something you are satisfied with, you can make a random caps locker hardware dongle, says a source on International Caps Lock Day.

If nothing at all appeals to you, and you still want to celebrate the day by giving this forbidden key some attention, then, spend your entire day, keeping the caps lock open. That will lead to writing in capital letters all through out the day, which in a way will promote the key, and give it a moral support for further existence in our keyboards. Like many insane in the world, write your emails, blogs, comments, etc, after pressing your caps lock today.
