Nevada (US), Mar 2 (ANI): Jaya has created a storm with her debut single “DJ Do It Again”, and has thus become the first Indo-British female to be signed by a major label.
Releasing on March eight by “All Around The World/Universal Music”, it is proving to be the first club smash of 2010 with its dance floor-friendly disco beats and “feel good” quality, which is combination of pop, urban elements, and dance. Jaya’s songs combine R&B, electro pop, Pop, and Hip Hop. She has been described as “charming, articulate, determined, creative, confident, larger-than-life, sexy, next Rihanna, and having charismatic & clear voice. Daughter of a Hindu priest (who is said to be the catalyst for her music involvement), she is reportedly collaborating with producers Jonas Jeberg, Parker & James, and Hawkeye.
Congratulating Jaya on her unprecedented success, Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged Indian youngsters not to forget the rich musical heritage of India in the wave of pop and other Western music. The elements of musical theory in India were first found in ancient Sama-veda, Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, added.
Jaya, 21, born and raised in Wembly (United Kingdom), who reportedly wanted to be a mermaid or a primary school teacher, now wants to be a worldwide brand. Her favorites and influence are said to include Spice Girls, A. R. Rahman, Aaliyah, Beyoncé, Ryan Leslie, Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child, VV Brown, Chipmunk, N Dubz, and Pixie Lott. MOBO awards described her as “a star in the making”. (ANI)
