April 2, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Performs the 1st Indian Ocean Live Concert inside a cinema auditorium

As Leaving Home - The Life and Music of Indian Ocean is all set for its theatrical release exclusively at BIG Cinemas across India today, Indian Ocean premiered their film with a twist in Mumbai. The film released with a live concert by the band members at IMAX BIG Cinemas last evening. Anurag Kashyap, well known director of Black Friday and an ardent fan of the band was there to support the band as they set another milestone in their 20 years of musical journey. In one of his rare public appearances, Piyush Mishra, the lyricist of the much popular Indian Ocean song ‘Bandeh’ composed for Black Friday, spoke about the inspiration behind the song and cherished his endearing friendship with the band members since so many years.

The band which has released less than 30 songs during the last 19 years, with no single filler amongst these, and more than half of which are bonafide classics, also unveiled their new songs to the ecstatic audience. The first ever concert in a cinema was a packed house event. And to add a pleasant surprise to the musical evening, the band for the first time sang “Bondhu” from their next album that will be launched in July. What better way to kick start a musical journey!!!

The journey of four men who created fantastic music has been captured by Jaideep Verma. Fans of Indian contemporary fusion music band, Indian Ocean have a summer treat in store. On 2nd April 2010, India’s first music film titled “Leaving Home: The Life and Music of Indian Ocean’ based on the 19-year old band is set to release nationally on the big screen.
