Indian film ‘Moner Manush’ claims top honours at IFFI (Lead)
December 2nd, 2010 - 9:12 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, Dec 2 (IANS) India claimed the top honours at the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here after Gautam Ghose’s “Moner Manush” won the Golden Peacock award Thursday.
Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier’s “In a Better World” won the Silver Peacock award for the best director at a glittering closing ceremony here attended, among others, by Bollywood actor and National Award winner Saif Ali Khan.
Guven Kirac, who acted in the Turkish film “The Crossing”, won the Silver Peacock for the best actor, while Magdalena Boczarska won the Silver Peacock for the best actress for her performance in the Polish film “Little Rose”.
The special jury award was split between Indian film “Just Another Love Story” by Kaushik Ganguly and “Boy” by Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi.
The Golden Peacock carries prize money of Rs.40 lakh, while the Silver Peacock for the best director carries a purse of Rs.15 lakh. The Silver Peacock for the best actor and actress carries prize money of Rs.10 lakh each, while the special jury prize comes with Rs.15 lakh in prize money.
