India lose kabaddi series against Pakistan 4-1
August 17th, 2008 - 1:13 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment ) Karachi, Aug.17 (ANI): India on Saturday lost a six-match kabaddi series with Pakistan by 4-1.
The hosts inflicted a 36-30 defeat on the visitors in the last match held at Railways Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, The News reports.
The match was to be postponed because of wet and slippery ground conditions, but the clamor of over 20,000 spectators forced the organizers to conduct the match.
Pakistan’’s key raiders Kashif Riaz and captain Imtiaz Alam played a key role in ensuring the hosts” victory.
In the six-match series, Pakistan got the lead after beating the visitors 60-35 in the opening match held at Multan on August 7. However, India made a comeback when they snatched a narrow 43-42 victory in the second meet at Chistian on August 9. The hosts managed to record a 45-35 victory in the third match at Pakpattan the following day to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth match, scheduled to be held at Faisalabad on August 12, was cancelled due to rain while in the fifth match held at Jinnah Sport Complex in Islamabad on Thursday, Pakistan defeated India 45-35.
The Indian team will return home on Monday. (ANI)
