India and Bangladesh to activate nodal points for exchange of information

New Delhi, June 10 (ANI): India and Bangladesh have agreed to activate the institution of nodal points to facilitate continuous and regular exchange of information.
This was decided at the 9th meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Working Group on security and border related issues took place here in the national capital from May 29 to 30.
The Indian delegation was led by Naveen Verma, J.S (NE), Ministry for Home Affairs (MHA) while the Bangladesh delegation was led by M.H. Chowdhury, Joint Secretary (Political), Bangladesh.
Both sides reiterated their commitment that their territory of either country would not be allowed for terrorist and criminal activities against the other country and that sustained cooperation and information sharing would prove beneficial for both the countries.
The Indian side reiterated its request to Bangladesh seeking action against Indian Insurgent Groups (IIGs) and their members reportedly staying in Bangladesh. It also requested for an expeditious action on Red Corner Notice Subjects via an enhanced interaction between the Interpol designated points.
Besides, nodal point for dealing with the matters relating to trafficking of women and children has also been set up with exchange of contact details.
Indian side sought an early response to its request seeking construction of fence within 150 yards of IB (International Border), keeping in mind the difficulties faced by general public.
The joint meet concluded on a satisfactory note with both sides showing faith in carrying forward the process of deepening bilateral relationship between the two countries in a significant and meaningful manner. (ANI)
