November 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Will ‘Superman’ return to the big screen any time in the near future? At present there are talks in Hollywood which point to another ‘Superman’ film in the offing, but it is also to be kept in mind that ‘Superman’ has evaded Hollywood for a long time now and it was as late as 2006 that the superhero could be seen fighting it out on the big screen. However Bryan Singer and Brand Routh’s ‘Superman Returns’ failed to impress cinema goers as much as it was expected to.

When it comes to ‘Superman’, who can ever forget the Nicholas Cage starrer ‘Superman Lives’ which was supposed to hit theaters during the 1990s. A peek into the Facebook profile of Steve Johnson, visual artist of ‘Superman Lives’, takes us into the world of Tim Burton’s ‘Superman’. The mannequined version of the comic book superhero is worth a watch, captivating and scary at the same time. It’s a pity that the Tim Burton project never saw the light of day in spite of the fact that $50 million was spent on ‘Superman Lives’ even before it hit the floors.

It was producers Warner Brothers, who called off the Tim Burton directorial venture at the last moment. The costumes which would have been used in the film and which are now on display on the internet have been a popular watch ever since the pictures have been released.
