I’m consciously breaking away from serious image: Irrfan Khan (Film Snippets)
September 9th, 2009 - 9:17 am ICT by IANS
New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Irrfan Khan, who played an inspector in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire” and an FBI agent in “New York”, says he has always been making a conscious effort to break away from his serious image.
“I’m consciously breaking away from an image since the day I started my acting career,” said Irrfan.
“When I was working on TV, everybody used to make me a doctor. Then I was sick of playing a doctor. In films, they used to cast me as a sober and sensitive guy. But that wasn’t exciting because playing filmy ’shareef’ (innocent) is so boring.
“Then they gave me villain’s roles. Then I did comedy. So it’s a continuous effort not to get typecast. So I have been fighting from getting typecast since the beginning and I will continue doing it,” he added.
The seasoned actor, who has done movies as varied as “Salaam Bombay”, “Maqbool”, “Life In A Metro”, “The Namesake”, “Dil Kabaddi” and “New York”, says he loves to do action adventure movies because they don’t typecast an actor.
His forthcoming releases include “Acid Factory” and “Paan Singh Tomar”, which are both action-based movies.

I’m a pathetic dancer: Rajeev Khandelwal
He is a good actor and a good TV host, but Rajeev Khandelwal calls himself a “pathetic dancer”. Despite that, he has finally managed to dance for a song in his next film “Peter Gaya Kaam Se”.
“‘Peter Gaya Kaam Se’ is more like a commercial film with music by Sajid-Wajid; so, yes, there’s a little bit of dancing. There’s one song that I have done. I’m a pathetic dancer, but I have still managed,” Rajeev told IANS.
The actor, who is currently hosting STAR Plus’ controversial reality show “Sach Ka Saamna”, will be seen in a completely new look in the movie being produced by UTV Spotboy.
“You’ve never seen me in that kind of look before. In terms of my look, my diction (authentic Konkani accent) and my character, everything is different.
“From that man caught in circumstances and no choice in ‘Aamir’, I will be now seen as a man who is living a carefree life and wants to go and explore better opportunities abroad,” he said.

Making thrillers is better than making NRI stories: Ram Gopal Varma
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma says he prefers making thrillers rather than candyfloss NRI stories.
“Some people have a fascination for making family dramas and I find making thrillers much exciting. And what’s wrong with it?…any day it’s better than making NRI stories,” Varma, whose last release was the horror thriller “Agyaat”, told IANS.
In the past, the director has helmed thrillers like “Kaun”, “Jungle”, “Bhoot” and “Darna Marna Hai” among others.
