I started making films by accident: Mrinal Sen
June 15th, 2011 - 10:41 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, June 15 (IANS) Renowned filmmaker Mrinal Sen says he started making films by accident and can make better films than what he made during his hey days.
“I make films by accident. My first film was an accident and it was awful. But from my third film I came of age,” said 88-year-old Sen.
“When people praise my films I feel happy. But what I feel is that I am capable to getting such praises. I think I am capable and could have made much better films than what I have made,” Sen said on the sidelines of a programme where he was felicitated here Tuesday.
“I wish if I am given a chance I can make much better films than what I have made. I don’t say this is a last work in film making. You still can improve a lot,” said Sen.
The film-maker, who has various awards and honours in his kitty, regretted that due to his age he cannot make films any more.
“Every morning I get up I think I should make films and should start writing scripts. I also have ideas popping up in my mind. But I am an old man, I can’t work as effectively as I used to work earlier,” said the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner.
