I felt directionless : Alicia Keys
July 18th, 2011 - 12:26 am ICT by IANSLondon, July 17 (IANS) Singer Alicia Keys says she felt directionless when she first landed a record deal at the age of 16.
“I started in this business so young - I was just a girl. To keep your head together. I felt directionless, like a chicken with its head cut off,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted the 30-year-old as saying.
“You feel like everyone wants a piece of you, everything is available to you, and it doesn’t matter that you’re only 16,” she added.
The “Empire State of Mind” hitmaker also admits that she couldn’t understand why some reviewers criticised her in the 2009 album “The Element of Freedom”.
“That’s just a reviewer’s opinion. I find myself to be truly primal and passionate. Everything I do comes from a primal place,” she said.
