I feel less pressure making ‘The Hangover 2′: Director
November 8th, 2010 - 12:41 am ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 7 (IANS) Hollywood director Todd Phillips says he feels less pressure making “The Hangover 2″ as he knows the audience is eagerly waiting for the film.
The director made the original movie which followed the events of a bachelor party in Las Vegas on a minimal budget and with no guarantee of a cinematic hit but after it became a worldwide hit, he feels more comfortable working on the sequel, reports contactmusic.com.
“Instead of pressure I feel the opposite, it feels a little liberating, because when you’re making a film like ‘The Hangover’, and it’s 3 a.m. and you’re shooting in some alley in the middle of Vegas and you think, ‘Is anybody actually going to see this film?’,” he said.
“So there’s the opposite effect in that we know people are waiting for it, so it makes it more pleasurable,” he added.
He added that the sequel which features returning stars Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Mike Tyson as well as a guest cameo by Liam Neeson is presently being shot in Thailand and he is enjoying it so much, he has no plans to move away from directing comedy anytime soon.
“It’s going great, we’re in Bangkok now and we’ll be there until the end of the year, so that’s fun. I could see myself making any other type of film, but at the moment we’re just having such a good time showing up very day and trying to make each other laugh that comedies are where I’m at.”
