June 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Katherine Heigl has denied the rumors that she has adopted her daughter in order to be trendy. She and her husband Josh Kelly adopted daughter Naleigh, last September, from South Korea.

Ever since then, Heigl has been facing criticism that she did so, only to be a part of the trendy club of actors and celebrities, who have adopted children from abroad.

The Grey Anatomy star rubbished the rumors. Her own sister Meg was adopted from Korea back in 1970s. Heigl said that she jokes with her mother when people tell her that she did this for being cool. She added that her mother always says that she is way trendier and cooler than everyone who are doing it now because she did it 30 years back.

The 33 year old actor, whose latest film, The Killer, co-staring Ashton Kutcher, released last Friday, said that she was grateful for having her daughter. Heigl said that Naleigh being adopted was no different. She said that she wanted to be a mother and has been lucky to find Naleigh.

Speculations about a second adoption ran high when the actress said that she wants to help orphans in Haiti, in the aftermath of the disastrous earthquake.
