Washington, Sept 14 (ANI): Filmmaker Tyler Perry’s latest family comedy “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” opened in the top place in North American Sunday.
According to preliminary industry figures, the film raked in 24 million dollars in the Friday to Sunday period.
Debuting at number two was “9,” the post-apocalyptic animated feature produced by Tim. The film combines Japanese anime with European animation and live action. It pulled in 10.9 million dollars, reports Variety.
Slipping one spot to third was Quentin Tarantino’s World War II film “Inglourious Basterds.” The film took 6.5 million dollars in its fourth weekend.
The fourth place, with 5.8 million, was claimed by romantic comedy “All About Steve,” starring Sandra Bullock as a crossword puzzle compiler who becomes infatuated with a television cameraman.
Last week’s box office number one, the horror movie sequel “The Final Destination,” plunged to fifth spot.
“Sorority Row” managed 5.3 million dollars at sixth spot.
Ranking seventh and also in its first week, “White Out,” starring Kate Beckinsale as a US marshall investigating a murder in Antarctica, earned 5.1 million dollars.
Dropping three positions to eighth was “District 9″.
On its heels with 3.3 million was “Julie & Julia,” Nora Ephron’s drama-comedy featuring Meryl Streep as legendary television chef Julia Child.
The action film “Gamer” dropped six spots to 10th in its second week with 3.1 million. (ANI)
