November 2, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): In the last ten years we have seen a lot of talent shows in the field of music, dancing, acting, cooking etc. Here comes one more musical talent show “I Am Next Superstar” but with a slight twist. STAR India PLUS and Third Eye Ventures have joined their hands together to put up a talent search contest exclusively for the South Asians in North Amercia. It is a big chance for South Asian music fanatics in Northern part of America to flaunt their musical talent without travelling to India.
“I Am Next Superstar” is a talent search contest where the contestants can compete with each other in two categories i.e; singing and playing an instrument. US and Canada residents can submit auditions of their singing or playing an instrument online. The show will air on STAR India PLUS in the US and Canada.
Now this is icing on the cake. Who is going to judge the show and mentor the participants? It is none other than India’s music luminaries Suresh Wadkar and Sonu Nigam. Both of them have been eagerly involved since the inception of “I Am Next Superstar”. “It’s a great opportunity for participants to learn the nuances of music and hone their skills through this contest and claim deserving fame,” said Wadkar.
According to Sonu Nigam, the dual objective of this show is to provide entertainment to fans in America while bringing them in sync with music reality shows in India . He also said that “The contest will go a long way in rightfully identifying singing talent among South Asians in North America, for both amateurs and professionals,”.
The format of the show will be similar to a regular reality show. Semi- finals will be held in New York and California which will produce finalists who will compete in a concert-style grand finale to be held in New Jersey, and aired on STAR India PLUS in North America. The contest winner will get to record a single and feature in a music video.
The talent search will happen pan-US through aggressive TV, online and offline marketing and ground participation. I am sure everybody will have a fare chance and equal opportunity to put up their talent. So what are you waiting for, Stand up and take the first step to realize your dream.
