hugo weaving Los Angeles, Mar 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hugo Weaving might play the character of the villain Red Skull in Captain America. Hugo Weaving is quite well known for portraying the character of Agent Smith in the sci-fi movie trilogy in The Matrix. He is presently in talks and discussions with Marvel Studios for this prestigious role.

Director Joe Johnston will direct the Captain America movie, and he is still on the lookout for a suitable actor to play the part of Steve Rogers who is Captain America’s alter ego. It hasn’t been finalized as yet, if Hugo Weaving has been signed for the movie or not, but speculations are rife that he would be finalized for the movie soon. And then, it would be the second time that the director Joe Johnston and Hugo Weaving team up again. Their last movie together as a director-actor duo was of the horror and the thriller genre, and it was titled The Wolfman.

In the comic series, Red Skull is portrayed as Captain America’s enemy since the last 70 years (since 1941, to be precise) when the villainous Red Skull was instrumental in the art of espionage and sabotage, as he was Hitler’s right hand man.
