Mar 15 (Pen Men at Work): Australian actor Hugo Weaving best known for portraying the character of agent smith in matrix trilogy will be doing the role of red skull in Captain America.

Marvel studios have almost sealed the deal on casting weaving as the villainous red skull. Joe Johnston will be directing the film, which is still to cast an actor for the role of Steve Rogers, Captain America’s alter ego.

In Captain America which is based on marvel comics, red skull is the archenemy. He engaged in espionage and sabotage as Hitler’s right hand man and was buried under the rubble of a bombed building in the final battle with captain. The character was the villain in the low-budget 1990 Captain America movie.

Weaving has also played the roles of Elrond in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Megatron in the Transformers series and V in V for Vendetta.
