Hope For Haiti Telethon To Be Shown On Jan 22

58774849Jan 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The devastating earthquake that shocked the poverty stricken country Haiti a few days back turned the places into a mess and wrecked havoc with the life of the residents there. The major NGOs and political leaders have been doing the needful and now the celebrities have teamed up to help the victims and survivors of the natural calamity. The major cable channels and broadcast networks will jointly broadcast ‘Hope for Haiti‘, a MTV telethon which involves most of the big stars of Hollywood. It will be aired on Jan 22, 2010. The networks that will broadcast the program include CBS, ABC, NBC, HBO, Fox, VH1 etc. It will be devoid of any commercial.

As per the latest reports, Wyclef Jean, the Haitian-born entertainer will cover the program from new York. Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney will be the host for the part shown from Los Angeles. The benefits obtained from the show will go to the Yele Haiti Foundation owned by Wyclef Jean and UNICEF, Red Cross. A number of music bans and eminent artists are slated to perform at the telethon. Some of the artists who will perform are Rihanna and Keith Urban.

The event will be shown on MTV and other networks. Apart from that an album of this program will be made and it can be purchased later. Interested people would be able to buy the album from the iTunes store. The songs will be made available individually as well. George Clooney is very hopeful about the program and thinks initiatives like these will go a long way in helping the victims of the quake.
