Home Guard arrested for raping girl in train
January 17th, 2011 - 10:50 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Jan 17 (IANS) A minor girl was allegedly raped by a Home Guard inside a train in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Monday, police said. The accused has been arrested.The 16-year-old girl was raped when the train was at the yard near the Kanpur Central railway station, police said.
“The girl is from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. She came to Kanpur with her friend and lost her way. The Home Guard saw the girl crying and approached her.
“Pretending to help her, he took to girl inside the train,” Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Parmanand Mishra told reporters in Kanpur, some 80-km from Lucknow.
“As per the girl’s statement, the Home Guard raped her inside the train’s toilet. After hearing the shrieks, some passers-by informed us and we arrested the man,” he added.
