February 27th, 2009 - 5:27 pm ICT by ANI Washington, February 27 (ANI): Two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman accepted an honorary commander title from the French Government with moist eyes on Thursday.
The 71-year-old was made a foreign commander of the country’’s National Order of Arts and Letters in recognition of his contributions to the film industry.
He received a green medallion from France’’s Culture Minister Christine Albanel in a glamorous Parisian ceremony.
Hailing Hoffman as one of Hollywood’’s leading figures, Albanel told him: “You have such a dramatic power that it is difficult to dissociate you from the characters you have played.”
The actor quickly brushed off his watery eyes, according to Contactmusic, and jokingly said: “When you get to my age, you cry at the weather reports.”
Hoffman will receive an honorary trophy at France’’s equivalent of the Oscars, the Cesar awards, on February 27. (ANI)
