March 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Academy award winning actor Dustin Hoffman wants to turn director. He is in plans to direct a film, Quartet. Quartet is based on a 1999 play which goes by the same name and is about a retirement home for England’s opera singers.
Albert Finney and Dame Maggie Smith will be starring in the film. Hoffman is still in talks to direct the film. As of yet, nothing has been finalized.
Quartet will start filming by the later half of 2010. Although Hoffman is listed as the uncredited director of Straight Time (1978), he hasn’t ever officially directed a movie.
