London, January 11 (ANI): Oliver Stone has courted controversy after suggesting that Hitler was nothing less than an “easy scapegoat” by history.

The controversial director has come up with a new documentary series, called “The Secret History of America”, which he hopes would put figures including Hitler and Stalin “in context”.

“Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and it’s been used cheaply. He’s the product of a series of actions. It’s cause and effect,” the Telegraph quoted him as telling a press conference at the Television Critics Association in California.

The three-time Academy Award winner further said that he wished to clarify the connection between the First World War and the Second World War that helped shaped the modern United States.

The 63-year-old said he was also aware of the backlash he might have to face in handling such a sensitive issue.

He said: “Obviously, Rush Limbaugh is not going to like this history and, as usual, we’re going to get those kind of ignorant attacks.” (ANI)
