Washington, July 4 (ANI): A channel has put together some of the hoax news stories alleging untimely demise of celebrities, both big and small.
According to Fox News, the same day that Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett passed away-June 25-online rumours falsely claimed that Jeff Goldblum had died during an on-set accident in New Zealand.
The same story had been spread about Tom Hanks in 2006 and Tom Cruise in 2008.
Online rumours that started circulating on June 25 also suggested that Harrison Ford was lost at sea when his yacht capsized.
Britney Spears was also targeted when some hackers got into her Twitter account, posting a message, reading: “Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.”
Britney of course is alive and touring, and so are Ellen DeGeneres and P. Diddy whose accounts were also broken into.
Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey was also untruly reported to have been discovered sprawled across her bed, dead in her Chicago apartment this year.
Miley Cyrus was said to have died in a hit-and- run accident on her way to the “Hannah Montana” set in September last year in false reports.
Paris Hilton was reported to have been dead after trouble makers created a phoney news story that looked like an official CNN.com page, misleadingly alleging that the heiress had been stabbed multiple times by an angry fellow inmate.
Sir Paul McCartney was reported to have borne the worst celebrity death hoax after the former Beatle was said to have died in a car accident in 1966 and was replaced by a look-alike in another false story. (ANI)
