“Here In My Heart” Singer Al Martino Dies

Los Angeles, October 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the past few months, starting from pop legend Michael Jackson, the music world lost multiple talents. After Stephen Gately, now it is actor and singer Al Martino who died on 13th October, 2009, Tuesday at an age of 82 years. He died in his Springfield home. Sandy Friedman, the publicist for the public relation firm of Rogers & Cowan had confirmed the news of Martino’s death. However, the cause of death is not yet reported.
Jerry Blavat, the well known figure of television and Philadelphia radio met Martino on Monday. He had dined with Martino. The music legend’s wife was also present at the dinner. In his interview to Philadelphia Daily News, Blavat told that he was shocked when he came to know about Martino’s death. He said that Martino was fine when they had dined together. Blavat praised Martino’s voice and said,”He was the last of the show business legends.”
Al Martino had a glorious career which stretched for decades. The famous single of Martino, “Here in My Heart” had reached the top position in first Singles Chart of the United Kingdom. New Musical Express had published the chart on 14th Novemver 1952. This track was a landmark in the career of Martino and it registered his name into Guinness Book of World Records. After this hit track, Martino had released several melodious tracks. Come Share the Wine released in the year 2006 was the last album of this music legend.
The character of Johnny Fontane in drama film The Godfather was portrayed by Al Martino. This was one of the unforgettable works of Martino.
