London, Jan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Dame Helen Mirren, who has often stripped in front of the camera, says that she now understands why women choose to go under the knife. She said that the women are bored of their features, and want to slow down the aging process, so they undergo plastic surgery.

Till date, the 64-year-old star hasn’t succumbed to the charms of plastic surgery. She says, “I don’t think there’s outside pressure, I think it’s the pressure you put on yourself when you look at the mirror in the morning. You go, ‘I don’t want to look at that face any more,’ and I understand that, absolutely. I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to make themselves feel happy.”

The candid admission on plastic surgery came when she was getting herself measured up for a wax statue at Madam Tussads. She said that it was quite intimidating for her to be measured so close and personal. Calipers measured every inch of her body, and it was quite a weird experience for her. Even though she has stripped in front of the camera on several movies, yet she wasn’t comfortable being measured so closely. She says that being nude in front of the camera is actually quite liberating. And since she doesn’t think about how her male fans would react to it, so she isn’t perturbed in the least.
