Helen Mirren thought she was too raunchy to be a Dame
October 25th, 2010 - 3:58 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 25 (ANI): Actress Helen Mirren has revealed that she very surprised when she was made a Dame as she thought she was too raunchy for the title.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Mirren, 65, had been bestowed the Queen’s honour in 2003, and she was taken aback by it as she was convinced her saucy movie roles had ruined her reputation.
“I was very surprised because I thought I was not that sort. I was always a bit raunchy, so I thought, ‘I’ll never be a Dame, I’m not the right sort of person’,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.
“So I was really honoured. It’s always great to be recognised by your country,” she added. (ANI)
