Helen Mirren Blasts Hollywood’s Partiality To Male Actors

Dec 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Noted British actress Helen Mirren lashed out at Hollywood for being partial to young male actors and neglecting talented lot in the process at an award ceremony in recent times. “The Queen” actress also resented the fact that some people still find her sexy even though she is on the wrong side of 60. The actress said in presence of some of the eminent Hollywood actress and personalities “I resent in my life the survival of some very mediocre male actors and the professional demise of some very brilliant female ones”. She said that over the decades Hollywood has not changed much even though women are being offered meaty roles at times.
The ceremony was meant for giving honor to the 100 most powerful women in the world of entertainment. Helen Mirren was given the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. She tried to brush off the claim that her fan following is owing to her ageless sex appeal, saying that it does not matter to her and that she thinks it is irrelevant to her. Halle Berry however disagreed with her and said she thinks Helen Mirren is “hot as hell.”The Women in Entertainment Power 100 list included Anne Sweeney, Anne Sweeney, Disney/ABC Television Group chief, Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman and some others. Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey was at 4th spot.
While her co actors from Hollywood heaped praise on ace actress Helen Mirren the graceful lady attributed her success to the upbringing she got from her parents. She said they made her understand the need for being economically independent at an young age.
